This episode is all kinds of inspirational. First, you have Colleen talking about one of my favorite stories, Musa Motha, an incredible one-legged dancer. Colleen also talks about a special camp that is set up to help kids with missing or different limbs learn to cope with their differences in a positive way. Teresa then talks about Peace Pilgrim. Yep, that's her name and you can kind of guess she is a little different with a name like that. But her story is inspiring as she advocated peace while walking across the United States SEVEN times and for 28 years. Talk about a mission. This week as been a little cooler, particularly after the scorching weeks we have had recently. Doesn't seem like Fall is just around the corner, but it is. Yay! Colleen is back to Tangential Inspiration. And this is a great episode. Colleen talks a little bit about her recent surgery and the process of getting a Cochlear implant to restore hearing in one of her ears, and later she talks about Dr. House (not the tv one) who invented the Cochlear implant and pioneered some other hearing-related treatments. Teresa continues her deep dive into Navy SEAL Admiral William McRaven and his amazing life and world perspective. This is the guy who organized the raid to go get Osama Bin Laden. We are missing Colleen this week who is out for a surgery, but she will be returning soon. Teresa still brings the inspiration this week, starting off with a story of how two women changed an unhoused man's life after 17 years on the streets. Then Teresa does her deep dive on the amazing Navajo Code Talkers who were instrumental in winning the War in the Pacific during World War II. Loving the summer weather here in the Pacific Northwest. Beautiful skies, not too hot, and of course, our home state of Oregon is beautiful. Something about all that blue sky puts a smile on my face and makes a little more room to be inspired. This week, Teresa talks about Tina Welling and how she helped prisoners learn about themselves through journaling, and how it helped her find herself. Colleen talks about a cool program that uses restoring cars as a way to keep kids off the streets while teaching valuable skills. And finally, Teresa gives an update on 4Oceans (previously discussed in episode 19), and a little bit about a new type of challenge that may change how you look at plastics in your life. We are back from a little rest and ready to inspire once again! Colleen is going to talk about her trip to Arlington, Virginia, and her visit to the historic Torpedo Factory. It is 100% not what you are thinking. It's so cool! She also talks about an Instagram and YouTube project that gives voices and comfort to differently-abled people, that started with a classroom project and now is huge. Teresa is going to tell an amazing story of strength and compassion, where a woman who seemed to be getting battered by life found the strength to help people that go largely unseen and unheard. It's a truly incredible story that you have to hear.
