As we move into September, we are going to do a few stories on mental health and mental health awareness. Mental health is a huge issue worldwide and more needs to be done to help those who are suffering as well as more intervention to help prevent mental illness and eliminate the stigma of mental health issues. In this episode, we start off with New York's Trash Walker who is bringing awareness to the massive waste going on in our cities and what can be done to divert unused goods from our dumps to those in need. Then Amy deep dives into Chef David Chang, who has battled mental health throughout his career but has still become a world-renowned chef and restauranteur. His story is inspiring. Amy also tells us the story of how singer Jack Johnson is working to clean up the world from plastics and the father-son Ridwell recycling project in Portland, Oregon. This is a great episode, have a listen and get inspired.

So the Olympics have come to a close. We were definitely inspired by so many of the Olympic stories, both past and present. This episode is CRAMMED with inspiring athletes. First, though, Teresa tells the tale of Grandma Gatewood, who in her mid-sixties, hiked the 2,050 mile Appalachian Trail on her own, and followed it up by doing the Oregon Trail by herself! Amy does a deep dive into Olympic swimming with the relentless spirit of Missy Franklin, who with the support of her parents, found Olympic gold five times! And with this being the first Olympics featuring skateboarding, Amy covers the amazing young women of skateboarding. Finally, there is a quick rapid-fire question session with Teresa in the hot seat. So much inspiration going on here that we just couldn't fit it into 30 minutes!

The Olympics are still going strong and so is the inspiration. Teresa starts of with Anthill Creations, a non-profit making playgrounds out of upcycled materials in the poorest parts of India. Next up is a deep dive on Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who despite many family tragedies, focused on improving the lives of special needs individuals and created the Special Olympics as a celebration of what amazing things they can achieve. Amy digs into the Boys in the Boat, an amazing tale of the US Olympic rowing team as they face challenges on the way to the 1936 Olympics and defy all odds. We finish up with some rapid fire questions for Teresa, where we learn whether Teresa excelled in ballet (spoiler alert: she did not). It's a great day to get inspired!

Amy and Teresa have Olympic Fever this week. As we approach the 2001 Summer Olympics, we look towards current and past athletes for some inspiration. At the starting block is the My Hero Project, which highlights extraordinary people making a difference. Lapping the competition is the inspiring story of Black Olympian and the first woman to win three Gold Medals in a single Olympics, William Rudolph! Coming down the home stretch is the story of rising gymnastics start, Jordan Chiles, who almost quit gymnastics until gymnastic legend, Simone Biles, took her under her wing. And making a strong finish is some rapid-fire sports questions for Teresa.

Despite the heatwave hitting the Pacific Northwest right now, this episode is a bit damp. We start off with Amy telling us about surfers getting together to help bring clean water to the world. And the last story, well it has a few happy tears, so there is a water connection. Teresa covers some really heartwarming graduation stories. As a bonus- there is a quickfire interview with Teresa. So let the inspiration wash over you.
