So, we had a slight COVID-induced break, but we will be back on schedule soon.  The downtime was just an opportunity to find more and more inspiring people and stories.  This week, Teresa starts us off with Kechi Okwuchi, the Nigerian-American singer who made it as a finalist on America's Got Talent despite having been horribly burned in a plane crash.  She refuses to let her scars define her and has gone on to be a music powerhouse and author.  Amy deep dives on Jon Batiste whose New Orleans-influenced jazz will get you out of your seat and dancing- but also it's a sweet, sweet love story.  You are going to love this guy!  Amy wraps it up with a Royal Recap where Princess Diana's sons continue their mother's mission to make a difference to others in this world.  We are back!  And we have got some inspiring to do!

Wednesday May 25, 2022

2022 is going by so fast- we are already closing out May!  And while there is so much negativity in the news right now- so much pain and death, we need to search for the bright spots.  It is too easy to fixate on the bad of this world and miss all the beauty.  Here is just our little ray of sunshine to help you through the shadows.  Amy shares the story of a modern take on an older Mexican folk art tradition being used to help raise money for a children's hospital.  Then she deep dives into Mandisa, the Christian singer whose journey of faith is tested over and over, and yet she always finds the light.  And bringing up the rear, Teresa shares two stories of people making a difference for those less fortunate, here in the United States and abroad.  Everyone can use a dose of inspiration right now- come inoculate yourself against the darkness!

It's not only people who can inspire- our furry friends can be a fabulous source of comfort, companionship, love, and yes, inspiration.  We have got some great animal stories in this episode, but first, Teresa kicks it off with two stories about ordinary people doing some extraordinary things to help the people of Ukraine.  Then there is the story of Molly, a doggie pet detective, who helps find lost pets with her human assistant.  Amy wraps it up with an amazing story about a "dog grandma" whose life changes as a result of a very special canine guest.  This week may be a little on the fluffier (or maybe the furry) side of things, but right now, everybody could use a little fluff.

Spring has sprung.  Flowers are in bloom.  And lawns are overgrown.  But inspiration is also blossoming.  Teresa starts off with some quick-hit stories about celebrities who are making a difference for others.  Then Teresa deep dives into the remarkable Jane Goodall, famous for living with the chimps, but has done so much more for the natural world.  It is a story you have to hear.  And then Amy brings it home with a story about how the old-fashioned tradition of mending clothes is making a comeback as a cost-saving and ecologically friendly alternative to fast fashion.  Mow that lawn and then take a well-deserved break and have a listen.

Wednesday Apr 27, 2022

It's already the last week of April- and hopefully, all of the showers we have had will bring lots of flowers next month.  We are serving up some incredible stories that will fill you with inspiration.  First, Teresa brings you the bitter-sweet story of a man, who despite having ALS that has paralyzed him and taken away his ability to speak, has found an even louder voice in his fight to help improve healthcare for the sick and elderly.  Amy then takes us to Spain, where an architect, Antoni Gaudi, designed and built things that were way before their time and has one amazing building that has continued his vision for almost 100 years after his death.  Then Amy tells us a story of how a note in a bottle connected people on different continents.   This is the burst of inspiration you need this week!

We are excited to have just hit 50,000 downloads.  Thank you to our listeners for all the support!  We love our listeners!  This week, we have some fantastic stories to share.  We start off with the mother of an autistic child who is reaching out to other parents about raising children on the spectrum and informing others how they can be an autism ally.  Then Teresa takes on Dr. Fauci who not only has taken on Covid, but Aids, Ebola, and SARS as America's chief immunologist.  Dr. Fauci has sacrificed protecting America under seven Presidents and there is way more to this man than what you see on tv.  Finally, the tragic but inspiring story of Starsky and Hutch actor, Paul Michael Glaser, and how AIDS impacted his family and spurned a movement to help provide for children afflicted with AIDS all around the world.  This is a great episode, so pull up a chair and have a listen.

So, we are having a very weird week, with snow in April.  Hasn't happened in Portland since 1934.  So, while we huddle in for the Spring sleet and snow, we bring gifts of inspiration.  Amy tells about a construction company that not only employs people who need a second chance, they also provide temporary lodging to help them get back up on their feet and these incredible temporary homes are popping up all around the country.  Teresa takes on the incredible Audrey Hepburn, who may be most famous for her acting career, but made a far more lasting impact after retiring from acting and taking on being an ambassador and advocate for Unicef.  She spent her life feeding children all over the world.  Finally, despite all of the horrors going on in Ukraine, there are some more amazing stories coming out about ordinary people doing extraordinary things in Ukraine.  We need to look for the light in the darkness.  Let's all strive to be points of light.

Happy April!  Let's dive right in because we have some incredible stories this week.  Amy tells a story about a community in Detroit that is bringing back its neighborhood on their own using the power of the sun and the strength of its women!  You won't believe how much you don't know about the incredible Maya Angelou.  This lady could do it all and do it with style.  It's an amazing story.  Then Teresa tells the story of an Oregon librarian who has traveled the world following her love of education and books and is empowering marginalized communities with books.  This is a fantastic episode.  Put in your earbuds, go for a walk, and let the inspiration fill you.
